Part of being a good leader is
surrounding yourself with good people

what students said about Chris Trenholme

Chris said that as he became a more experienced athlete, he became more efficient with his practice and therefore could train less each week.

As an athlete who plays two different sports, and finds it hard to manage my time, I realize that if I manage my time with both sports effectively than I can become more efficient with my overall training.

Chris's idea that leadership involves communication and relationship building stood out for me because I am a leader on both sports teams that I play on. I frequently find it hard to communicate with my teammates when they make mistake because I am short tempered, but to hear from a more experienced athlete about the importance of good communication is advice that I can use.

The idea that stood out from Chris Trenholme was that you learn best from your mistakes or losses

I loved listening to what Chris had to say about leadership because that is an area that i am very involved in and always like to know what i can do to better my leadership. Through experience i have learned that communication is very important when being a leader and when Chris said that being inclusive is key, and taking in all ideas, i was able to relate to what he said because he couldn't be more right. I think since i live such a busy life like Chris, it was interesting to hear how he prioritized the things more important to him. I learned that balance is key whatever you are doing or trying to accomplish-always leave the most time to do the things you love. As well, the process you go through to achieve anything is important because if you don't enjoy it then it is not right for you because the process is what lasts the longest, and once you have reached the top you find yourself starting another process for another goal.

He made many things stand out to me. I enjoyed how he gave us advice about how his CO-OP program helped him in the long run. Then when he closed out his interview by telling us that "everyone has something" really motivated me to do the best I can do and be the best that I can be!
